The iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2532×1170 pixels while the 12 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2778×1284 pixels. Both the display has a pixel density of 460 and can go up to 1200 in peak brightness. The displays also have support for HDR and Dolby Vision. Both the display is protected by the Ceramic Shield. Both the smartphone has IP68 water and resistance rating.
Both the iPhones are powered by Apple’s custom Bionic A14 SoC. The SoC has six cores (two high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores) and four GPU cores and it is built on the TSMC’s cutting edge 5nm process. Apple claims A14 is 50 percent faster than the A13 chip. The chip is 5G capable as you might have expected. It supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G (which Apple calls Gigabit LTE).
At the back, both the smartphone has a triple camera setup. The iPhone 12 Pro rear camera setup consists of a 12MP f/1.6 wide camera 7-element lens, 26mm focal length; 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens offers a 120-degree FoV; 12MP f/2.0 telephoto lens capable of 4x optical zoom range and Digital zoom up to 10x.
While in the iPhone 12 Pro Max only the telephoto one is different, the other two sensors is the same as the iPhone 12 Pro’s one. The telephoto one is a 12MP f/2.2 sensor capable of 2.5x optical zoom in, 2x optical zoom out, 5x optical zoom range, and Digital zoom up to 12x. Also, the wide camera on the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a sensor-shift optical image stabilization system.
On the front, both phones have a 12MP TrueDepth front camera with f/2.2 aperture which is capable of 4K video recording at 60 fps, Slo‑mo 1080p at 120fps. There’s also a LiDAR Scanner for enhancing augmented reality applications and providing faster autofocus for photos and videos, with focus time in low-light scenes improved six times.
Apple also announced a new feature it calls “Apple ProRAW” that will be available on the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max later this year. Apple says that it’ll offer existing computational photography benefits like its Deep Fusion and Smart HDR along with the flexibility of RAW photos. The format will be available across all four cameras and will let users adjust things like sharpening, color highlights, and more while still taking advantage of Apple’s existing photography enhancements.
The battery on the iPhone 12 Pro is rated for lasting up to 17 hours while the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s one is up to 19 hours. Like the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, the two iPhone 12 Pro models will also be compatible with Apple’s newly announced MagSafe wireless chargers and accessories, which offer magnetically attached cases, charging pads, and even attachments like wallets. Apple is also not including charging brick and earpod in the box. Apple will, however, still include a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box for charging.
On the connectivity side, it has support for 5G (sub‑6 GHz), Gigabit-class LTE, 802.11ax Wi‑Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC with reader mode, GPS with GLONASS.
