Facebook Introduces Facebook Campus for College Students

Facebook campus

One Facebook started its journey back in 2004 as the social network for college students. Now 2020 the biggest social media giant is getting back to its root by creating a section in the main app called Facebook Campus exclusively for college students.

In a blog post, Facebook said that “ In the early days, Facebook was a college-only network, and now we’re returning to our roots with Facebook Campus to help students make and maintain these relationships, even if they’re away from their college.”

Facebook is hoping that this will help college students keep in touch with their friends and can also make new friends at a time when college campuses are closed due to pandemic.

Facebook Campus is not a separate app instead it is a section in the main Facebook app. Although you need to create a separate Campus profile to access this section. You will need the college email and graduation year to create the profile. Other information such as their major, classes, hometown, and minor are optional.

After creating the Campus Profile you will be able to access the Campus-only News Feed which will let students create study groups or plan virtual concerts. When content is shared on Campus, only people within Campus will be able to see it. With the Campus-Directory feature, you will be able to find anyone on the basis of their class, major, or year. There will also be a real-time chat room called Campus Chats. Students can create chat rooms for their dorm, clubs, or any other groups they’re part of within Campus.
