Jio 5G Announced, Testing to Start After Spectrum is Available

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2020 announced that Jio is developing a homegrown 5G solution. Jio has created the technology from the scratch. If Jio can successfully deploy its own 5G solution then it will become the first telecom operator in the world to do so.

Jio has also said that as soon as the 5G spectrum is available it will start testing this homegrown solution. “Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. It will be ready for trials as soon as the 5G spectrum is available and can be ready for field deployment next year,” Mr. Ambani.

Jio also has plans on exporting Jio 5G solution to other telecom operators globally as a completely managed service. The chairman of Reliance Industries also shared that upgrading Jio’s 4G network to 5G would be easy because of its converged all IP network architecture.

The company is aiming at better remote health care, especially in rural areas, and digitization of agriculture. Jio also talked about 5G applications in autonomous cars. “Using these technologies, we can create compelling solutions across multiple industry verticals like media, financial services, new commerce, education, healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, smart manufacturing & smart mobility,” Ambani said.
