New Huawei Phone Will Ship Without Facebook App Pre-Installed

The situation for Huawei is getting worse day by day after US ban. First Google then ARM, Qualcomm, Intel cut ties with Huawei. Now Facebook won’t allow Huawei to pre-install its apps on smartphones anymore.

The decision won’t be as much of a blow to Huawei as Google and ARM cutting ties. Although a user can download Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram as a normal app and will continue to receive update also. Huawei mainly pre-install Facebook apps, twitter in their new phones. Whether Twitter will follow the same path is not clear at the moment.

According to a person familiar with the matter, the Facebook ban applies to any Huawei phone that has not left the factory. This is not a big problem because many users don’t like pre-install app anyway. But still, it can be a deal breaker for many people.

The bigger issue for the company is Google. The US government granted the search giant a 90-day period for supporting Huawei phones. So Huawei devices made after August 19th may even lose access to Google’s apps and services including the Play Store, users can find these apps via Huawei’s own app store – AppGallery.
