OnePlus 8 And OnePlus 8 Pro Launched: Specification And Price

Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, many brands have postponed their launch but OnePlus has no such intension. Today on an online-only event OnePlus announced their latest flagship OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. These are the most powerful and expensive flagships from the brand. Now we can safely say that OnePlus has shifted its focus from flagship killer to flagship territory.

OnePlus 8 is the lower price one of the duo. OnePlus 8 features a 6.55-inch FluidAMOLED FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and support for HDR 10+. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is powered by the latest and greatest Snapdragon 865 SoC with support for 5G through the X55 model which supports both NSA and SA 5G modes. It has 8GB or 12 RAM and 128GB and 256GB onboard storage. OnePlus 8 is powered by a 4,300mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30T, which OnePlus claims can charge from 1 percent to 50 percent in just 22 minutes.

OnePlus 8 comes packing a 48MP Sony IMX586 f/1.7 primary sensor backed by a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens and 2MP f/2.4 macro lens. On the front, it has a 16MP f/2.45 sensor sitting in a punch-hole cutout on the display. The included camera app offers mode likes CINE aspect ratio video recording, UltraShot HDR, Nightscape, Micro, Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, AI Scene Detection, RAW Image, and Smart Pet Capture. As usual, there is no headphone jack, it has a USB Type-C port for charging.

OnePlus 8 Pro has a price of flagship-grade smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S20 and the spec in the device justify its pricing. The Pro model comes with a slightly larger 6.78-inch 19.8:9 QHD+ Fluid AMOLED Display, and with refresh rate up to 120Hz. HDR10+, HDR boost, and 10-bit color accuracy. It also features a in-display fingerprint sensor. OnePlus 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC. The smartphone also comes with LPDDR5 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB onboard storage. 

OnePlus 8 Pro features a quad camera setup in the back including a 48MP Sony IMX689 f/1.78 primary sensor with a 48MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens, and 5MP f/2.4 color filter camera. In front, it has a 16MP camera in punch hole. The camera app also features modes just like OnePlus 8. OnePlus 8 Pro is powered by a 4,510mAh cell that supports Warp Charge 30T, although it is faster on this model, taking only 23 minutes to charge up to 50 percent despite a bigger battery. It is also the first OnePlus device that has wireless charging. And also the first OnePlus device that has an IP68 rating. The smartphone will also feature integrated support for Amazon’s Alexa, Stadia, Google’s Live Caption and free 100GB Google One cloud storage for 3 months. 

Pricing

he OnePlus 8 price in the US is set at $699 (~Rs 53,000) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option, while the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant costs $799 (~Rs 60,600). The OnePlus 8 Pro, meanwhile, has been priced at $899 (~Rs 68,900) and $999 (~Rs 75,800), respectively. The OnePlus 8 will be available in Onyx Black, Interstellar Glow, and Glacial Green paint jobs. The OnePlus 8 Pro, on the other hand, will come in Onyx Black, Glacial Green, and Ultramarine Blue hues. The smartphones will go on sale in the US starting April 29th on OnePlus.com and in Europe, the pre-order starts on April 14th with open sales commencing on April 21st. There is an exact timeline when it will be available in India. Given the current lockdown in India, it is impossible for any brand to sell phones in India right now. But both smartphones will be available this summer from Amazon India and OnePlus.in.
