A few months ago India banned 59 Chinese apps and followed by another 47 more apps after a few weeks. These banned apps included some of the apps which come preinstalled in Xiaomi devices. Now the company is working on the next MIUI version to comply with the Indian Government’s order.
Xiaomi apps that are banned by the government include Mi Browser Pro, Mi Community, and Mi Video Call. Xiaomi said in a tweet that the next MIUI version which will be rolled out to Indian users is specifically made for users in Indan which will not include any of the banned apps.
In that tweet, Xiaomi confirmed that their MIUI Cleaner app is not based on the Clean Master app which is also banned by the government. They have made a custom app for the cleaner app in MIUI. Xiaomi also said that from 2018 all of the Indian user data is stored in the server located in India. The company, like all others in the banned list, has sent its responses to the Indian government’s 77 questions and is awaiting an individual hearing from the government.
